The current era of Architects has been a fascinating one, to say the least. Beginning with For Those that Wish to Exist in 2021, the British metalcore titans began treading into new, alternative metal ground, highlighted less by intricate stylized breakdowns and guttural screams by vocalist Sam Carter and more by melodic riffs and high-soaring choruses, peaking with 2022’s The Classic Symptoms of a Broken Spirit (followed by a high-profile supporting spot on tour with Metallica).
Now, nearly a month away from the release of The Sky, The Earth & All Between, their 11th full-length album, the band is taking yet another turn. This time, they’re melding the crushing metalcore stylings of years past with their newfound melodic sensibilities, seemingly providing a little something for everyone.
If early singles like “Curse” and “Whiplash” are any indication, this may very well be the most realized version of the band we’ve experienced since 2018’s Holy Hell. Brace yourselves.
